Laurene Powell Jobs’ Emerson Collective backs edtech startup

Emerson Collective, an organization started by billionaire Laurene Powell Jobs, has led a $16 million investment into Boston edtech startup Panorama Education.

Jobs isn’t the only tech luminary to take an interest in Panorama, which went through the West Coast startup accelerator Y Combinator in 2013 before moving to Boston. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg contributed to a $4 million round via his Startup:Education fund. The startup tacked on a $12 million Series A round in 2015.

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative participated in the latest round, as did other previous investors Spark Capital, Owl Ventures, and SoftTechVC.
