Amplifying Her Voice Featured Speaker: Nadia Francois

Nadia Francois is a licensed hairstylist by trade and holds a degree in business administration, but she says she’s chiefly a serial entrepreneur with a heart for people. Through her own experiences as well as lessons from other mentors and professionals, Francois works to help empower women and children attain success, confidence, and self-sufficiency.

Last year, she became the channel owner of What’s Your Super Power TV, which also houses her talk show by the same title on Exposure TV Network. On the show, Francois and guest hosts interview women pioneers and entrepreneurs about their journeys and what drives and motivates them.

Although she has focused on attaining her own goals and helping others entrepreneurial journeys since the age of 19, Francois says her No. 1 “assignment” is being the mother and sole provider for her four sons. Here, she discusses the role of technology in modern parenting, the impact of self-care, the importance of perseverance, and more.

What inspired you to join Amplifying Her Voice for Mother’s Day?

I want to share with other mothers the special privilege we have been blessed with and to inspire them to continue to embrace motherhood and to rear their children the best they can with what they have.

What most drives and motivates you each day?

My children.

Who is your role model, and why?

My mother because she did so much with so little and still managed to help others along the way.

What cause, company, group, or movement are you a part of that you would like to share with us?

Sistars of Empowerment, Inc., a female and youth empowerment organization.

What do you think are some of the most pressing issues facing moms, families, and caregivers today?

Mental health, finances, and child care.

How do you think issues like poverty, violence, racism, oppression, and inequality intersect with motherhood and with being a woman?

These issues intersect with motherhood and womanhood through the environment. A lot of women are born into these situations and others are brought in indirectly by the choices and decisions we make.

How do you feel being a mother is different now than it was in the past? What do you hope will change in the future?

Technology and media play a big role in parenting today. I hope that the influences that affect our youth most will be those that reflect positive traits and habits for society.

What is the best advice you’ve received?

To treat others as I would like to be treated, no matter who they are.

What is something you would like to share with the next generation?

The journey to purpose is often uncertain—yet, once discovered, is undeniable. Never give up.

Who inspired you as a child or young person, and how do you work to inspire the next generation now?

My grandmothers inspired me. I work to inspire the next generation by being the change that I want to see.

What do you think is the most important thing for women to keep in mind in terms of caring for themselves?

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Self-care is everything.

What are your views on “work-life balance” for women? How should women handle the obligations of both professional and family life, and what messages does it send to the next generation?

I think there should be a healthy balance in family and professional life because survival requires both. I think it shows the next generation that women aren’t just housewives or soccer moms. We can do both and still be successful.

What advice would you like to share with girls and women looking to achieve their dreams and lift up one another?

Never give up, even though storms may come. Just continue to push through.

We’re delighted to have had Nadia Francois at our summit, lending her voice—and we admire the work she does to uplift and amplify the voices of other women every day. Keep following us for more stories about inspirational women, and stay tuned for more events!
