5 Ways You Can #BreakTheBias on International Women’s Day and Beyond

International Women’s Day is tomorrow! Now and always, we’re reflecting on just a few ways we can all help #BreakTheBias in our own lives.

Speak up
Whether at work, with loved ones, or in everyday conversation; never underestimate the power of a natural approach. Some bias calls for a bold response, but even a “casual” comment calling out sexism (“That’s not cool” or “That’s not how we talk about women”) can work wonders.

Learn
Whether from prominent leading voices or the women in your life, make a point to read women authors, seek out women podcasters and presenters, learn from women leaders, and listen to the women in your life. Their expertise, perspective, and lived experiences not only matter—they make everyone wiser, more well-rounded, and stronger.

Flip the script
When was the last time you heard someone point out “male scientists,” “men authors,” or “men in entrepreneurship”? Do you typically hear about new fathers being asked how they plan to balance work and parenthood? There are good reasons to continue highlighting women in many spaces, but we need to be aware of the bias that persists.

Women: Know your worth
You have skills to offer and a perspective that matters, and you deserve to be respected. You deserve to lead, to feel confident, and to take up space: at work, at home, and anywhere in the world.

Use your power
Find allies, and be an ally! If you’re a leader in business, as a mentor, as a communicator, as a boss or parent raising the next generation, or any other way; use your power and position to include, highlight, and prioritize women.
